Information

nixxi employs sustainable business practices in all aspects -- from sourcing fabrics and suppliers to fair labor standards and industry relationships.

nixxi designs are sewn in Vancouver, BC, supporting a small production house that provides a positive working environment and fair wages to their employees. Made with love and a high attention to detail and quality, nixxi pieces can remain a favorite in your wardrobe for seasons to come.

nixxi uses fabrics that have been made with organic and sustainable fibers. This is not only an ecological choice, but in finding so much inspiration in the luxury and texture of eco-fabrics, we couldn't imaging using anything else.

As all fabric production has an impact on the environment at some level, we choose to use those fabrics that are the most organic and sustainable compared to the conventional alternatives. Fabrics nixxi currently use include:

* Organic Cotton -- A low impact fiber which does not require the use of harmful chemicals required by crops of conventional cotton, growing organically maintains soil fertility.

* Bamboo -- Luxuriously soft and breathable, bamboo fabrics are made from the fibers of the organic and fast growing stocks and leaves of the bamboo plant.

* Soy -- Soy yarns are made from the husks of the soy bean, which are a byproduct of the tofu industry. Soy crops do not require harmful chemicals to grow, the fabrics are similarly soft like bamboo.

* Hemp -- A fast growing, sustainable and organic plant, the fibers are taken from the outer stock of the plant. Hemp fabrics are known for their strength and durability.

* Lyocell -- A soft and breathable fabric made from wood pulp and cotton linters. The process of making Lyocell recycles production materials rather than flushing them into the environment.

* Other fabrics include linen, modal, tussah silk and organic wool.

Reducing Fabric Waste -- during the manufacturing process, there is an abundance of leftover "scraps" of fabric. nixxi has introduced the "scrappy panty" as a way to reduce the waste leftover from the cutting table.

Reusing Materials -- nixxi ships all products in recycled paper packaging and reuses the boxes collected during production for shipping out wholesale orders.

Recycled and Tree-Free Papers -- nixxi uses recycled and tree-free paper for our hang tags, as well as in the office. Hang tags are attached to garments with string and safety pins, rather than plastic taggers.
